I appreciate that they encourage user feedback and often respond when a problem is encountered and a file is sent in for evaluation. Given what I've seen, based on extensive testing with Gigapixel AI, Sharpen AI and DeNoise AI I personally feel that the AI technology Topaz has developed is a major game changer. though I did run a number of head to head tests with different images and found DeNoise6 silghtly better.Īlbert Yang's tutorial on DeNoise 6 is hard to find, yet it's the only one I've seen that explores the program in depth and explains all of the settings in a clear manner. At the same time, I can't claim to be an expert with Prime so there is the possibility that I wasn't using it to it's best advantage. DeNoise 6 is a very difficult program to master and I can only assume that many who preferred Prime were unable to master it's controls.
TOPAZ DENOISE 6 TUTORIAL SOFTWARE
That's been the case with other software programs, including Topaz Clarity, which I downloaded the night before going on a one month trip and never had a chance to trial.īut in my tests I found DeNoise AI significantly easier to use than DeNoise 6 as well as significanty better, albeit much slower.
TOPAZ DENOISE 6 TUTORIAL TRIAL
I've trialed DXO Prime once and am assuming one can only trial the software once or I'd do a head to head comparison with DeNoise AI. I personally found those presets to be garbage when compared to following the procedures outlined in the video mentioned above.Ĭlick to expand. As mentioned earlier, I've learned that doing my own tests is more useful in coming to conclusions when comparing two competing software programs. The problem with many who tested DeNoise 6 is that they opted for the one click results from selecting one of six different camera brands on the left hand side of DeNoise 6. I certainly did when I tested it against my trial version of Prime. I tested it against DeNoise 6 and found that if you followed Albert Yang's tutorial on youtube to the letter (he developed DeNoise 6) you'd get better results than with DXO Prime. If you read my first post I mentioned DXO Prime in the very first sentence. I've always found it more useful to run my own tests and try a number of different settings as that is the only way to find out if one program is better than any other. It's easy to look at any tester's results and assume their settings are the optimum settings.

I've tested both dng and tiffs and have found in every case that the dng's came out much darker and with more noise. I'd personally never draw anything conclusive from that test given the 40,000 iso test that I posted above.

TOPAZ DENOISE 6 TUTORIAL HOW TO
The dpreview thread only shows that the tester didn't know how to properly use Topaz DeNoise AI. 70 appears to be far too high a setting for noise reuction as the image is complete mush. Click to expand. What I'm seeing from those results Jerry is that far too much noise reduction was applied in DeNoise AI in the dpreview test.
